Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price donates Convalescent Plasma for first time since recovering from Corona Virus

Fort Worth mayor urges covered COVID-19 patients to please consider donating CCP

On Friday, December 18, Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price donated COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) to help patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Carter BloodCare’s Rosedale Donor Center was the venue for Price’s donation, located at 1263 W. Rosedale Street, Suite 100 Fort Worth, Texas 76104.

Veronica Moore, Vice President of Organizational Relations at Carter BloodCare, spoke briefly about increased demand and declining supply of this important treatment for COVID-19 patients.

While in the donation bed, Mayor Price’s plasma was collected via automation. During the donation, the blood passed through an apheresis machine, separating red cells from plasma. This machine then returned the blood (red cells) to Mayor Price, while ensuring that just plasma was retained for patients.
