However, hospitals continue to order blood products for their transfusion-dependent patients at all hours, when moments could mean the difference between life and death. Carter BloodCare reminds the community that even in the midst of a pandemic, it is still safe to donate blood and patients are counting on those donations.

VFW Post of Lampasas is hosting a drive from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, January 11, at 481 N. Highway 183 inside the VFW Hall.

Best Buy is hosting a drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 26, at 422 W. Loop 281, in the parking lot on the Carter BloodCare bus.

Gateway Church is opening its doors to the community for blood donations in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its leaders are encouraging people to #bravethemoment and give blood because it is an eligible “essential” activity during shelter-in-place orders. Blood is an vital resource to the healthcare providers and it can’t be manufactured. It must come from volunteer donors.
